According to recent reports, the search for a fugitive, who was considered to be “armed and dangerous,” has finally ended in Pinal County. Donald Hill, the fugitive in question, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Coolidge at approximately 9 p.m. on Friday, and has since been booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center.
Officials were tipped off that Hill was making his way back to Coolidge, prompting the U.S. Marshals Service, Pinal County deputies, and Coolidge police to keep a lookout. They eventually located him in an apartment near the intersection of California Street and Vah Ki Inn Road. Upon stepping outside the apartment, Hill was apprehended and taken into custody.
Acting United States Marshal Van Bayless stated that the U.S. Marshals Task Force is committed to collaborating with federal, state and local agencies to tackle the most perilous cases involving fugitives. He added that Donald Hill caused fear in the community, but he has been captured and will not be causing any more harm any time soon.
Although Sarah Wall is familiar with Hill and even lived in the apartment where he was arrested, she was not present at the time of his arrest. According to Wall, she had spoken to Hill prior to his arrest. However, Hill did not disclose his location to her during their conversations. Wall had assumed that Hill was far away and possibly even in Mexico, so she was surprised that he would return to their area and take such a risk.
Lynette Jackson, a resident in the vicinity, believes that justice would be served by putting the offender behind bars and giving him the punishment he rightfully deserves.
On Thursday around 12:30 p.m., Hill disappeared, which led to a lockdown of all schools. In response, Coolidge police used social media to urge individuals to steer clear of the areas near 10th Place and Vah Ki Inn Road. Hill was spotted in the neighborhood, prompting the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office to seek assistance from the U.S. Marshals in locating him. Hill was wanted on five counts of kidnapping and five counts of aggravated assault.
In an interview with Arizona’s Family, parents expressed their fear just hours before Hill was apprehended. Shai McFarlen vividly remembered the helicopters and SWAT teams scouring the area earlier this week. As a mother with two children, she shared her anxiety about the situation. “It’s really frightening to be outside, knowing that this guy is known for kidnapping and assault,” McFarlane said.
According to reports, Pinal County is on the lookout for Donald Hill, a 45-year-old man who is facing charges of five counts of kidnapping and five counts of aggravated assault.
According to neighbor Matt Fanning, he was stopped by authorities during the search near his neighborhood. He mentioned that the officers requested to have the SWAT team search his house for the person they were looking for, to which he agreed. The team searched for approximately 20 minutes before letting him back in the house. Fanning recounted the incident, stating that the officers were thorough in their search before concluding their investigation.
