COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In Colorado Springs, a police officer sustained injuries in a collision on Sunday afternoon. The incident took place while the officer was en route to a call reporting the presence of weapons.
Around 3 p.m., there was an incident at the intersection of Powers and Stetson Hills in northeast Colorado Springs. As a result, both directions of Powers had to be shut down for a period of time.
The CSPD stated that the officers were dispatched to an emergency involving a weapon. As per the police, the officers were traveling northbound on Powers with all emergency equipment activated.
According to reports, while driving through the intersection, they noticed another vehicle heading west on Stetson Hills, trying to enter the intersection. Unfortunately, the two vehicles collided at that point. The police car also collided with another vehicle that was turning east onto Stetson Hills after hitting the first vehicle.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the officer who was involved in the accident has been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment for minor injuries.
According to authorities, the patrol car was hit by another vehicle that had two individuals inside. The same vehicle rolled over following the crash, and both occupants sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital.
According to police, the crash is currently undergoing investigation, but they have stated that speed and impairment are not believed to be contributing factors. As of now, there have been no arrests made in connection with the incident.
