On Thursday, the Thomasville Police Department stated that a woman was charged in relation to a hit-and-run that occurred in Thomasville last week. The incident was reported through the department’s Facebook page.
At approximately 8:20 p.m. on September 7th, a pedestrian walking eastbound in the 900 block of Hasty School Road was struck by a vehicle also traveling eastbound.
The incident left a 39-year-old resident of Thomasville lying on the ground after being hit by a vehicle that did not stop.
After walking to a nearby Sheetz store, the man was promptly assisted by the employees who called 911. As a result, emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and the man was taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Upon investigating the scene of the crash, authorities discovered a side mirror which helped them identify the vehicle responsible for the incident. Thanks to a helpful tip from a member of the local community, police were able to successfully locate the vehicle in question.
Felicia Elaine Hicks, a 31-year-old resident of Thomasville, has been charged and identified by the local police. The charges against her have also been specified.
At exactly 10 p.m. last Thursday, Hicks surrendered to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
After her hearing, she was granted a $5,000 unsecured bond and allowed to leave.
