Newark PD Reports Employee Assault and Gunpoint Robbery at Dollar General

On July 21, a Dollar General store in Newark fell victim to an armed robbery, as per reports from the authorities.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, a man entered the Dollar General store at 420 Springfield Avenue through the right side rear entrance at 8:29 a.m. He then proceeded to demand cash from the cashier and gestured that he had a handgun. Additionally, the suspect assaulted the employee on her left side during the incident.

According to Fragé, the suspect was handed a deposit bag containing $3,776.73 from the store’s safe by the employee. Once the money was handed over, the suspect left the store and headed northbound on South 6th Street.

According to Fragé, the suspect stands at 5’7″ and weighs around 150 pounds. He donned all-black attire, including a full ski mask that concealed his face and head. Additionally, he sported black Nike AirForce sneakers with ankle straps.
