An arrest has been made in the investigation of a hate crime involving vandalism in a Montgomery neighborhood

A suspect believed to be responsible for writing derogatory messages in Montgomery’s Dannelly Pines neighbourhood has been apprehended.

According to Montgomery police, 34-year-old Stephen Hickey has been charged with felony first-degree criminal mischief. He was apprehended on Tuesday and is currently being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility. At the time of writing, his mug shot has not been made available.

According to a statement made by Maj. Saba Coleman, the MPD, worked together tirelessly to identify and apprehend Hickey, the perpetrator behind the racial slurs and hate symbols that caused a lot of distress in the community. Their hard work paid off, and Hickey was taken into custody.

In expressing her gratitude, the spokesperson acknowledged the public’s patience and cooperation in the matter. She emphasized that the arrest was a testament to the Montgomery Police Department’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of residents, employees, and visitors in the city.
