According to the Montgomery Police Department, a mid-morning shooting on Eastern Boulevard killed one woman and badly injured another.
Around 10:15 a.m., police officers and fire medics arrived at the 1400 block of Eastern Boulevard to locate the two victims who had been shot. Officials pronounced the woman dead on the spot and transported the guy to a nearby hospital for treatment.
On Monday, the MPD did not announce the names of either victim.
Throughout the morning, Montgomery locals speculated about the incident online, as others shared images and videos of the police presence outside the Motel 6 on Eastern Boulevard.
According to a spokeswoman, a person of interest has been apprehended, but it is unclear how the person was engaged in the shooting, if at all. According to MPD, the homicide investigation is still ongoing.
