Several reports indicate that Americans across the country have experienced a surge in violent crime cases that are associated with parole programs established by the Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas.
Single men who are inadmissible under federal law have been entering the U.S. illegally, and a pattern has emerged in this regard. Interestingly, Border Patrol agents have been releasing them rather than processing them for removal. These individuals are provided with a “notice to appear” before an immigration judge, but the appearance date is set for several years into the future.
According to reports from the DHS Inspector General, the agents failed to thoroughly vet all individuals they apprehended and subsequently released, while ICE agents neglected to detain them. This lack of due diligence led to the release of several men who were later arrested for committing violent crimes, some even thousands of miles away from the border. The Center Square was the first to report on these findings.
Instances of heinous crimes committed by foreigners in the United States are on the rise. For instance, a 12-year-old girl was strangled to death in Houston by Venezuelans. In Maryland, a mother of five was allegedly raped and murdered by a Salvadoran. Similarly, an Ecuadorian is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old in New York City. These incidents highlight the growing concern over the safety of American citizens due to criminal activities perpetrated by immigrants.
Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., of the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security, believes that the Biden administration could have prevented the recent tragedies if they had upheld the laws they swore to enforce. He states that it is that simple. The lack of enforcement has resulted in Americans feeling unsafe in their own communities and neighborhoods. However, Green’s committee will continue to work towards justice for the victims and hold public officials accountable for their actions.
Local law enforcement officials discovered that Border Patrol agents had released the alleged perpetrators without proper vetting, and some had entered through new parole programs created by Mayorkas. These individuals were identified by House Republicans as illegal and used as evidence to impeach Mayorkas in February. Furthermore, Republican attorneys general have filed lawsuits in an attempt to stop these programs, arguing that they are unlawful.
According to reports from The Center Square, law enforcement officials, and news organizations, the alleged perpetrators were arrested and charged with violent crimes within months of their release. The Central American Minors Parole Program, implemented in April 2022, as well as parole programs specifically created for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans (CHNV) between October 2022 and January 2023, and a family unification process for Salvadorans, Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Colombians implemented in July 2023 have all been traced back to their entries.
According to a report from the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security, DHS utilized over 50 airports globally to facilitate the entry of more than 400,000 inadmissible aliens through the administration’s illegal CHNV mass-parole initiative. The committee further revealed that as of mid-October 2023, 1.6 million inadmissible aliens were awaiting travel authorizations under the CHNV program.
According to documents obtained by the committee, the DHS states that all individuals who are paroled into the United States through CHNV Processes have no legal basis to enter the country. The DHS clarifies that this includes all individuals who are granted parole, as they are considered inadmissible under US law.
According to Green, the mass parole programs are a mockery of the laws in place. He firmly believes that President Joe Biden and Mayorkas are looking to bring more inadmissible aliens into the United States, not to protect those who are genuinely persecuted in their home countries, but for their own political gain.
Donald Trump, the former President, was the first to caution about the potential release of criminals from prisons in other nations who could illegally make their way into the United States and cause harm to Americans.
During a border event in Texas three years ago, Trump claimed to have struck deals with the leaders of Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador. These deals involved the countries taking back their citizens who were violent criminals and were being processed for removal by the United States. However, this agreement came to an end under the Biden administration. Trump had warned that without the deals, these countries would release their prisoners, including murderers, human traffickers, and drug dealers, who would then illegally enter the United States.
According to Steve McGraw, the Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, members of the Tren de Aragua, a violent Venezuelan prison gang, have infiltrated Houston.
Senator Marco Rubio from Florida has urged the Biden administration to classify the cartel as a Transnational Criminal Organization. The members of this notorious group are notorious for committing heinous crimes such as murder, bribery, money laundering, drug and arms trafficking, and abductions for ransom money.
According to The Center Square, Tren de Aragua gang members have been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents across the country, with recent incidents in New York City and Chicago. Additionally, ICE agents have made a record-breaking number of arrests of criminal noncitizens from fiscal 2021 through fiscal 2023. The majority of those arrested were citizens of Mexico, Nicaragua, Columbia, and Venezuela.
According to The Center Square’s report, House Republicans raised concerns about violent prisoners being released by Venezuela and encouraged to join caravans heading towards the southern border almost two years ago. However, the exact number of these individuals who are currently residing in the U.S. illegally remains unknown.
