Suspect in the dogfighting bust in Autauga County has been identified

PLANTERSVILLE, Ala. – In Autauga County, Alabama, a man has been charged in connection with a dogfighting operation that was recently uncovered. According to court filings, the operation was found in a rural area of the county.

According to the criminal complaints, Clifford Eugene Sheppard, who is 44 years old, is being charged with a total of 36 counts, including eight counts of animal cruelty, 27 counts of aggravated animal cruelty, and a separate charge of dog fighting. Additionally, he is facing an altered firearms charge.

According to authorities, an ongoing investigation led to the discovery of an operation in Plantersville on Friday morning. Upon investigation, it was found that there were 35 dogs on the property, along with the remains of other dogs and animals. This was a shocking and heartbreaking discovery for all involved.

According to the jail records of Autauga County, he is being held on a bail amounting to $483,000.

The organization responsible for taking in the dogs is called Two by Two Rescue.
