High school football game in Baltimore interrupted due to nearby shooting of 12-year-old boy

Baltimore – The high school football game in Baltimore City Public Schools was halted after a 12-year-old boy was shot nearby. The incident caused concern for the safety of everyone involved, prompting the game to be paused. The authorities were immediately notified, and the game was not resumed until the area was deemed safe. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of gun violence affecting young people in urban areas.

According to authorities, a 12-year-old boy was shot near Dunbar High Football Field in Baltimore, which led to the halt of a football game on Friday. Baltimore City Public Schools took this step to ensure the safety of all the students and staff present in the area.

According to Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley, the young boy was in a group of people on Madison Street when gunshots rang out on Friday evening.

At first, Worley identified the victim of the gunshot as an 11-year-old boy, but the police later corrected the information, stating that he was 12 years old. The boy was immediately transported to a nearby hospital and is now in stable condition, according to the authorities.

During a press conference held after the shooting, Worley informed the reporters that they were only aware of one shooter, although they were unsure.

Mayor Brandon Scott made it clear that the football game had no connection whatsoever with the shooting incident.

According to Scott, this is the neighborhood of the people, isn’t it? It’s such a lovely night and everyone deserves to enjoy it outside without the fear of someone cowardly shooting at them, regardless of whether they were at the game or not.

According to school officials, the game was ended early as a precautionary measure.

School officials have confirmed that all the student-athletes are safe and sound.

According to Scott, it is important for young people to spend their after-school hours having fun and enjoying the outdoors, especially during their first week of school. He believes that this is not how the young man in question should have ended his first week of school.

Earlier this year, three young individuals were shot in the same location.

Late in the evening of February 14th, at approximately 8:20 PM, law enforcement officials discovered a teenage boy who had suffered a gunshot injury to his right leg. The incident took place in the 1000 block of Webb Court.

Upon their return to the community a few hours later, the sound of gunfire caught their attention once again. This time, they were led to the 800 block of Aisquith Street, where they discovered a 14-year-old boy who had been a victim of a shooting.

Just a few steps away from the young boy, at the junction of East Eager and North Central Avenue, law enforcement officials stumbled upon a 13-year-old girl who had sustained gunshot injuries.
