Rockdale County has launched a new initiative aimed at assisting individuals who have a tendency to wander off.

The Wander Alert Program, introduced by the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, aims to provide assistance to individuals who are experiencing cognitive or intellectual disorders.

If you’re in a situation where you’re unable to locate a loved one who may have wandered off, this program is here to assist you.

The program will take into account individuals with intellectual or cognitive disorders, as stated by the sheriff’s office.

    • Dementia (memory loss, confusion (time/place), difficulty completing familiar tasks, behavior changes/mood swings).
    • Autism
    • Down Syndrome
    • Any intellectual/developmental disability

If you know someone who fits this criteria, the sheriff’s office in Rockdale County encourages you to get in touch with them.
