An off-duty NYPD police officer tragically lost his life in a car accident on Friday evening, according to officials.
Police Officer Juliana Torsiello, an experienced officer with two years on the force, was behind the wheel of her 2008 BMW 328i traveling east on County Road 51 in Orange County. It was around 6 p.m. when she encountered a challenging curve on the descending road. Unfortunately, Officer Torsiello was unable to navigate the curve successfully, as stated by a trooper from the New York State Police.

The officer’s car veered into the opposite lane of traffic and crashed into an embankment, causing it to become airborne and collide with a tree, according to the trooper. Subsequently, the vehicle flipped over and came to rest on its roof.
The identity of the victim who tragically lost their life in the shuttle bus accident at the PGA Championship has been revealed. It has been confirmed that the victim was an employee of one of the vendors at the event.

The investigators are currently examining the officer’s speed as a potential contributing factor in the crash, according to the trooper. Additionally, an autopsy will be conducted to determine whether alcohol was present in the officer’s bloodstream.
The officer was assigned to the 30th Precinct in West Harlem and became a member of the NYPD in December 2021.
