KC Pet Project seeks lost alligator from petting zoo at local school

Kansas City Pet Project officials are currently engaged in efforts to locate a missing alligator that went missing during an event held at Lakeview Middle School in Kansas City, Missouri, on Thursday.

A petting zoo brought an alligator to the school on Thursday morning as part of an exhibit to celebrate the end of the school year. The alligator belongs to the petting zoo.

According to officials, the alligator, measuring 14 inches in length and with its mouth securely taped shut, was last spotted at the school situated at 6720 NW 64th St, at approximately 11 a.m.

According to officials, the alligator is deemed unable to survive in its natural habitat due to its mouth being taped shut.

In this case, the organizers failed to obtain an animal show permit from KC Pet Project, which is required for such events.

According to Tori Fugate, spokesperson for KC Pet Project, the Animal Services Division is dedicated to public safety, which is why permits are necessary for events involving animals. Fugate emphasized that any event in Kansas City, Missouri that features animals must obtain the appropriate permit to guarantee the safety of all participants, as well as the animals involved.

According to Fugate, KC Pet Project intends to issue a citation to the company responsible for bringing the alligator to school.
