Florida gas prices remain stable leading up to Memorial Day weekend

Florida drivers might find some relief at the gas station this Memorial Day weekend in Tallahassee.

According to the AAA auto club, gas prices in the state experienced a 6-cent increase at the beginning of last week. However, these gains were quickly offset by the weekend, resulting in the state average of $3.45 per gallon remaining unchanged from a week ago.

According to Mark Jenkins from AAA, pump prices are gradually decreasing as a staggering 2.5 million individuals in Florida get ready to embark on their Memorial Day weekend travels. However, it is worth noting that the current geopolitical tensions may hinder pump prices from dropping below the levels observed during the same holiday weekend last year.

Florida residents are expected to hit the road in record numbers this Memorial Day weekend, with gas prices averaging $3.41 per gallon. Approximately 2.3 million Floridians are forecasted to embark on a road trip, surpassing last year’s numbers by nearly 106,000. This surge in travelers marks a new all-time high for the state.

In terms of fuel prices, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Gainesville rank among the most expensive places in the state. On the other hand, the panhandle region offers the cheapest areas to fill up your tank.
