Atlanta experiences three police car crashes within the city during the weekend

Atlanta police have confirmed that there were three separate crashes involving patrol cars in the city on Saturday evening.

Around 5:15 pm, in the Capitol View neighborhood, there were several incidents involving the shooting of three police officers and the death of a man.

A patrol car, in the form of an SUV, collided at the intersection of University Ave. SW and Smith St.

A sedan patrol car was involved in a wreck at the intersection of Beatie Ave. SW and Dill Ave. SW. Another patrol car had to be towed away from the scene.

The APD was unable to provide any details on the extent of damages, the officers who were involved, the injuries sustained, or the number of calls related to the crashes on Sunday.

According to a spokesperson, the investigation into the collisions involving the marked patrol vehicles is currently underway. This process requires additional reports and supplemental entries to be completed, and they are currently being processed.

APD anticipates being able to furnish that information at a later time.
