Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been implicated in a reported assault incident at a nightclub in Dallas, according to the Dallas Morning News. The police have confirmed the allegations and are currently investigating the matter.
According to law enforcement officials, officers were sent to the nightclub in response to an assault report early Monday morning. The Morning News reported that a man was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, which included swelling on one side of his face.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the Morning News reported that the police have not filed any charges related to the alleged assault.
The Chiefs did not provide any comment on the matter. Rice’s attorney also chose not to comment when approached by the Morning News.
Rice, a rookie out of SMU, had a standout season as a receiver for the Super Bowl champion Chiefs. However, he has recently encountered some offseason trouble.
Rice, who is 24 years old, was taken into custody in Dallas back in March following his participation in a seven-car accident. The incident resulted in injuries to at least seven individuals. The charges against him include one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury, as stated by the police.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Morning News, Rice was driving at a speed of 119 mph before the crash on a Dallas freeway. The affidavit further revealed that Rice’s vehicle had made several aggressive maneuvers in an attempt to navigate through traffic.
