During an interview on Fox & Friends, a Jewish student from UCLA expressed his belief that the counter-protestors who disrupted an encampment were not actually UCLA students. He further stated that the Jewish community in Los Angeles had reached their limit.
Eli Tsives made a comeback on the Fox News morning show a day later, following his previous appearance where he discussed a viral video. The video depicted him being denied entry to class, seemingly due to the Star of David necklace he was wearing.
On Wednesday, Tsives asserted that the dispersal of a Pro-Palestine protest encampment by a counter-protest movement involved individuals from the local community who were not affiliated with the Brentwood campus.
Tsives, speaking to Fox & Friends, explained that the Jewish community in Los Angeles has reached a breaking point. They have witnessed how pro-Hamas protesters have mistreated Jewish students on college campuses. Feeling frustrated by the lack of action from the UCLA administration and the LAPD, they have decided to take matters into their own hands.
According to Brian Kilmeade, it appears that a group of individuals took it upon themselves to dismantle the campus, and they encountered some opposition along the way. The incident reportedly lasted for approximately two hours.
During the incident, I witnessed individuals engaged in hurling objects at each other. As you mentioned, barricades were being taken down. I took the chance to converse with some of these demonstrators, and they revealed that their primary objective was to provoke the police. They expressed their desire for the Los Angeles police to intervene so that they could gain access to the encampment and commence making arrests.
Steve Doocy inquired about the identity of the counter-protesters who arrived at the encampment after the pro-Palestine group. He sought clarification on whether they were Jewish students or Jewish individuals.
“They are definitely not UCLA students,” Tsives confidently stated. “The individuals involved were mostly in their late twenties, unlike the average age of UCLA students. They were residents of Los Angeles who identified as Jewish and were deeply concerned about the mistreatment of Jewish students by pro-Hamas protesters at UCLA. They decided to take matters into their own hands, as the administration showed no signs of taking action. They firmly believed that if nothing was done, they had to step up and make a difference.”
Pro-Palestinian students on college campuses nationwide are protesting against what they perceive as unfair U.S. backing of Israel’s assault on Gaza in the wake of the brutal attacks on October 7th.
