Former Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill’s appeal to his conviction for violating the rights of inmates in his custody has been denied by federal court. The decision comes just over a year after Hill filed the appeal.
Channel 2 Action News was the first to report on Hill’s appeal of his prison sentence in March 2023. The former sheriff was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison by a judge.
In October 2022, the former sheriff was convicted of multiple charges related to the violation of inmates’ rights.
Hill caused physical pain and bodily injury to six men, resulting in his conviction. In March 2023, he was sentenced, and in May of the same year, he reported to federal prison.
In March of this year, Hill was transferred from federal prison to community confinement while serving his sentence.
