Several tornadoes confirmed during weekend storm

Multiple tornadoes and straight-line winds have been reported during a severe storm over the weekend, as the dust settles in Kansas City, Missouri (KCTV).

On Sunday, April 28, the National Weather Service published its report on confirmed tornado sightings that occurred during severe storms in Kansas and Missouri on Saturday. The report does not include information about the size and path of the tornadoes, but those details are anticipated to be disclosed by Monday. Additionally, there have been no reports of injuries thus far.

    • Just before 7:10 p.m., a tornado was confirmed about 8 miles north of Robinson, Kan., in Brown County. No information about possible damage has been released.
    • Around 7:15 p.m., a tornado was confirmed about 2 miles southwest of White Cloud, Kan., in Doniphan County. No information about possible damage has been released.
    • Just after 7:45 p.m., a tornado was confirmed by emergency management officials about 4 miles north of Goff, Kan., in Nemaha County. A line of healthy trees was reportedly damaged with limbs ripped off that were about 3 inches in diameter.
    • Just after 8:30 p.m., a small tornado was confirmed about 3 miles southwest of Dexter, Kan., in Cowley County. No information about possible damage has been released.
    • Just before 9:20 p.m., a tornado was confirmed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol crossing Highway 169 near Gentry, Mo., in Gentry County. A metal roof was torn off a residence about 3 miles southeast of the report. Metal was found in tres and some limbs between 4 and 6 inches in diameter were downed.
    • Around 9:35 p.m., either a landspout or tornado was confirmed to have touched down about 10 miles north of Kendall, Kan., in Hamilton County. outbuildings and power poles were damaged as a result.
    • Just after 9:40 p.m., multiple brief tornados were confirmed near Moline, Elk Falls and Longton, Kan., in Elk County. These were reported as secondary rotation events south of the main “wedge” tornado seen about 1 mile southwest of Howard. No information about possible damage has been released.
    • Around 10:35 p.m., a very brief tornado was reported about 3 miles northeast of Fredonia, Kan., in Wilson County. The tornado briefly touched down about 5 miles northeast of Benedict. No information about possible damage has been released.
    • At 11:40 p.m., a tornado was confirmed to have briefly touched down west of Brookfield but was seen about 2 miles east of Laclede, Mo., in Linn County. No information about possible damage has been released.
    • Around 12:45 a.m., a tornado was confirmed about 3 miles northeast of Independence, Kan., in Montgomery County. No information about possible damage has been released.
    • Just after 1:45 a.m., a tornado with power flashes was confirmed about 3 miles north of Montrose, Mo., in Henry County. A funnel had been visible. No information about possible damage has been released.
    • Just before 2:30 a.m., a tornado was confirmed about 3 miles northwest of Neodesha, Kan., in Wilson County. No information about possible damage has been released.
    • At 2:50 a.m., a tornado was reported on the ground about 6 miles southeast of Buxton, Kan., in Wilson County. No information about possible damage has been released.

Over the weekend, the area faced not only the danger of tornadoes but also the destructive force of straight-line winds. Numerous reports of damage caused by these winds were verified, including downed powerlines, power outages, and fallen tree limbs.
