Severe storms lead to flooding and road closures in southeastern Kansas

Severe weather wreaked havoc across the Midwest, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Over the weekend, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska experienced heavy rain, high winds, hail, and tornadoes. However, it was Oklahoma and Nebraska that bore the brunt of the damage.

The recent rainfall in Kansas brought much-needed relief to some areas. Unfortunately, the heavy downpour resulted in excessive flooding and road closures in places like Iola and Fort Scott. In Iola, KS, Paul J. Porter’s drone images vividly depict the extent of the damage caused by the flooding.

The Kansas Department of Transportation has reported the closure of multiple roads in southeast and eastern Kansas.
