Police have arrested a suspected intruder who allegedly broke into the residence of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass early Sunday morning.
In a statement on X, the LAPD PIO reported that this morning, at approximately 6:40 AM, an individual broke a window to gain entry into the Getty House while it was occupied.
Bass and her family live in Los Angeles’ Hancock Park neighborhood at the Getty House residence.
According to ABC News, Bass was one of the residents present at home when the intruder entered. The Mayor’s office did not disclose whether she had any interaction with the suspect.
According to the LAPD, there were no injuries to the occupants during the incident. The suspect was taken into custody without any issues.
Late on Sunday night, authorities confirmed that Ephraim Matthew Hunter, aged 29, had been apprehended and charged with felony burglary. Hunter’s bail has been set at $100,000.
It remains unclear whether Hunter has legal representation at this time.
The police are currently conducting an ongoing investigation.
After the break-in, Zach Seidl, Bass’ Deputy Mayor of Communications, expressed gratitude to the LAPD for their quick response and apprehension of the suspect.
