Sheriff conducts sweep in Essex County, seizes heroin, cocaine, and guns

During the investigation, law enforcement focused their efforts on Hill Street and Washington Street, as well as South 10th Street and Clinton Avenue. These targeted operations led to the confiscation of four firearms, 39 grams of heroin, 828 grams of cocaine, and more than 60 ecstasy pills, according to Essex County Sheriff Armando B. Fontoura.

Jermaine Hartwell, a 49-year-old resident of Edgewater Park, was arrested by the police. Along with him, Stephen Heien, a resident of Flanders, Israel Hughee, a 46-year-old resident of Newark, Victor Liggins, a 50-year-old resident of Bloomfield, and Bruce Williams, a resident of Newark, were also apprehended, according to Fontoura.

According to Fontoura, the five individuals are currently being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility until they are formally charged.
