Rudy Giuliani has launched a scathing attack on Judge Scott McAfee, who recently made a ruling allowing Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to proceed with the prosecution of Donald Trump and other defendants, including Giuliani himself, in the Georgia election-interference case.
McAfee determined that Willis could continue overseeing the case, but with the condition that Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor she was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with, would be removed. Following this ruling, Wade promptly announced his resignation, stating that it was in the interest of democracy, in dedication to the American public, and to expedite the progress of this case.
Giuliani and Trump were both indicted, along with 16 others, for allegedly violating the law in their efforts to overturn Joe Biden’s election win in Georgia. When reached for comment, McAfee, who works at the Superior Court of Fulton County, could not be reached as it was outside of business hours.
Trump’s legal team had hoped to remove Willis from the Georgia case, which would have caused a significant delay and potentially led to the collapse of the trial. In addition to this, Trump’s New York hush-money case was postponed by a week, and Judge Aileen Cannon in Florida rejected a request to dismiss his classified documents case on the grounds of being “unconstitutionally vague.”
In a recent interview on conservative network Newsmax, Rudy Giuliani, a trusted legal advisor and close ally of former President Trump, expressed his strong disapproval of McAfee’s decision. Giuliani criticized the judge involved, calling his actions absurd and labeling him as an absolute disgrace.
Giuliani faces a total of 13 charges, which include violating Georgia’s anti-organized crime RICO act, conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree, and conspiracy to file false documents. Similar to Trump, he has pleaded not guilty to all charges and vehemently denies any wrongdoing.
On Friday, Giuliani expressed his concerns once again about the integrity of the 2020 presidential election in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“It is no mere coincidence that three of the states with the highest number of inquiries regarding election integrity and secure voting also coincide with being the largest ‘Swing States’ in the nation,” he shared.
Despite numerous rejections in court and by independent legal and election experts, Trump persists in his assertion that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him through fraud.
House Republican Ronny Jackson, a staunch ally of former President Trump from Texas, expressed anger and frustration over McAfee’s decision to allow Willis to proceed with the election-interference case.
However, some X users responded by pointing out that McAfee was appointed by Georgia’s Republican Governor Brian Kemp. One user even humorously asked, “Did you open your medicine cabinet early today?”
Former President Trump is facing federal prosecution for allegations of illegal conduct in his efforts to overturn the 2020 election outcome at a national scale. He maintains his innocence and has consistently labeled the charges against him as politically motivated.
