Forecasters predict that another round of winter weather may be heading towards some parts of the DMV region.
The National Weather Service alerted the public on Saturday, March 9, stating that the ongoing rain in the area could potentially turn into snow in certain regions. They warned that during squalls, there could be a significant amount of snowfall, ranging from one to three inches per hour.
Meteorologists in the area have confirmed the occurrence of inclement weather, noting the presence of small hail.
The region can expect rain to persist on Saturday. However, there is some relief on the horizon as the skies are expected to clear up on Sunday afternoon, with partly sunny conditions. It is worth noting that a Coastal Flood Warning is still in effect.
Winds gusts may reach speeds of over 50 mph.
According to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek, it is possible that a few of the more intense squalls may generate thunder and lightning, or even thundersnow.
