Blizzard Hits California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains, And More Snow Is On The Way

The Sierra Nevada mountains of California experienced the season’s largest snowstorm, which came to an end overnight. However, there is more snow expected in certain areas.

The snowfall has reached astonishing heights, with some areas experiencing over 7 feet of snow.

Wind gusts in the mountain peaks reached speeds exceeding 190 miles per hour, whereas lower elevations experienced gusts ranging from 50 to 100 mph.

As of early Monday, a massive blizzard caused the closure of Interstate 80 in California.

Over the weekend, there were also two reported tornadoes in California, specifically north of Fresno.

Another snowstorm is forecasted to arrive on the West Coast on Monday night and continue into Tuesday. This time, the storm is expected to primarily impact Mount Shasta in the Cascade Range, located in the far northern region of California. Additionally, parts of Oregon and Washington may also be affected by the snowfall.

The southern edge of the new storm could bring an additional 6 to 18 inches of snow to Lake Tahoe and the hard-hit I-80.

A winter storm warning is in effect for the region until Tuesday night.
