Mocobizscene- A 34-year-old convicted criminal faced charges on Thursday for allegedly firing shots at two individuals inside a vehicle in Garden Grove on the night of New Year’s Eve.

Juan Manuel Uriarte Jr. is facing a range of serious charges, including two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon. In addition, he is charged with shooting at a car and being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition. It is important to note that he also faces sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder and discharging a firearm.
According to Garden Grove police Sgt. Nick Jensen, Uriarte allegedly fired shots at the car while on foot.
Around Buena Street and Keel Avenue, a shooting incident occurred, but fortunately, the victims managed to escape without any injuries.
During the execution of a search warrant on Tuesday, law enforcement officers discovered a significant cache of items. Among the recovered items were four firearms, over 200 rounds of ammunition, and approximately 19 pounds of methamphetamine, according to the police.
Uriarte, who had pleaded guilty in November 2017, was charged with carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in public. On Thursday, he was remanded in custody with a bail set at $500,000. His arraignment is scheduled for March 15 at the West Justice Center in Westminster.
