Juvenile Arrested in Connection to Cranford Carjacking, Police Say

Mocobizscene-  A 13-year-old teenager from Newark has been charged in connection with a carjacking incident in Cranford that occurred last year. On September 23, at approximately 9:30 p.m., law enforcement authorities responded to a car theft report in the 300 block of East North Avenue in Cranford.

A 13-year-old is believed to have taken off in the victim’s car, while the second suspect made their getaway in a stolen Porsche.

The police successfully identified the teenager involved in the incident, although their name was not disclosed for legal reasons. The teenager has been charged with first-degree carjacking and is currently being held at the juvenile detention center in Essex County.

The Cranford police chief is urging residents to stay alert and conscious of their surroundings due to a rise in violent motor vehicle crimes, even when committed by young offenders.
