Mocobizscene- At around 11:30 a.m., officers from the Rockville City Police were dispatched to investigate a robbery report near the intersection of Waddington Lane and Waddington Ct. According to the police, the suspects attempted to steal the victim’s cell phone before making their getaway in a Blue Kia passenger car.
A short time later, the car, which had been reported stolen earlier in the day from the 1700 block of Crawford Drive, was discovered on E. Jefferson St. The vehicle was pursued by officers into an apartment complex located on the 6100 block of Montrose Road. Eventually, the suspects decided to abandon the vehicle.
After a short pursuit on foot, law enforcement apprehended both suspects.
Police have announced the arrest of Nelvin Reyes-Nieto, 18, and an unnamed teenager from Rockville. The two individuals are facing multiple charges, including attempted strong-arm robbery, auto theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, conspiracy to commit unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft, malicious destruction of property, and rogue and vagabond.
The Montgomery County Department of Police provided assistance as well.
