Mocobizscene- A 42-year-old mother in Lanham, Maryland, is charged with killing her 21-year-old son by stabbing him to death after an argument, claiming he tried to strangle her.
When Prince George’s County Police Department officers arrived at the 8000 block of Greenfield Drive on January 25, just after 7 a.m., they found Cristos Johnson suffering from stab wounds. Even though he was taken to the hospital immediately, he was declared dead not long after.
Authorities claim that there was a fight between Johnson and his mother, Querida Rivera. According to court records that WRC-TV saw, the argument lasted for many hours, during which time Rivera told authorities that her son became hostile and shoved her. Rivera allegedly went upstairs, got a knife, came back downstairs, and threatened Johnson with it. According to Rivera, her kid tried to choke her, so she stabbed him.
Court documents that WRC was able to get, however, show that a witness refuted Rivera’s story, saying that they did not see Johnson touching his mother prior to her retrieving the knife. The witness claimed to have witnessed Rivera knife her kid after striking him.
According to WRC reports, Rivera was cut on her arm and received bruises all over her body during the altercation.
The State’s Attorney’s Office for Prince George’s County accused Rivera of first-degree murder as well as other connected crimes. She was taken into custody by police on February 7 and is currently being held at the Department of Corrections.
According to WRC, Rivera appeared at a hearing on Thursday, February 8, where a judge rejected her bond. In her testimony at the hearing, Rivera’s mother said that Johnson had previously shown anger against her daughter and said that her daughter was a responsible parent.
