Man Convicted of Felony Leads Police on High-Speed Chase from Maryland to DC, Arrested with Illegal Guns

Mocobizscene- Jordan Tyler Alexander, a resident of the district, admitted to committing weapons offenses on Tuesday. This came after police discovered a Glock 27 in a stolen vehicle, which Alexander crashed while leading officers on a high-speed chase that reached speeds exceeding 100 mph last summer.

A white Honda Accord pulled into a convenience store parking lot in Suitland at 2 a.m. on August 9, 2023, as observed by a Prince George’s County police officer. However, the car quickly departed from the scene. This incident was documented in court records.

The officer had a suspicion that the vehicle drove away upon seeing his marked police cruiser. Upon running the license plates, it was discovered that the Honda had been stolen on July 24, 2023 in Southeast DC.

The officer turned on his lights and sirens after Alexander ran a red light. This prompted the Honda to quickly accelerate and initiate a pursuit. The chase concluded when Alexander crashed into a guardrail on the northbound lanes of I-295 near the exit for Minnesota Avenue NE.

However, he wasn’t finished just yet.

As the officer pursued him on foot, Alexander made a desperate move to enter another vehicle on I-295.

He made a mistake in choosing the vehicle.

As Alexander made his escape, he encountered an unexpected obstacle inside the car he was trying to steal. The vehicle happened to belong to an off-duty law enforcement agent who was still in uniform. This unexpected turn of events led Alexander to abandon his car theft plan and continue his escape on foot down the highway.

After the officer got out of the vehicle, Alexander eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.

Investigators discovered a Glock 27, a 40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine, on the driver’s side floorboard of the crashed Honda. It was found next to a cell phone. Additionally, a second Glock was found on the front passenger seat.

Alexander admitted to unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition as a person with a previous conviction punishable by more than one year of imprisonment. Additionally, he is currently awaiting trial for an armed robbery and weapons charge in Prince George’s County.
