Mocobizscene-A Man has been charged by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch in connection with a 2023 fatal stabbing that occurred in Northwest Washington, DC. On December 19, 2023, a domestic disturbance report at a property on the 1200 block of 11th Street, Northwest, prompted the incident. Reyna Garcia-Lopez, 31, was the victim; she was fatally stabbed.
On December 20, 2023, Alberto Valle-Carranza, 54, the suspect, was taken into custody by the Great Lake Regional Fugitive Task Force in Michigan City, Indiana. A warrant issued by the DC Superior Court allowed for the arrest. Additionally from Northwest Washington, DC, Valle-Carranza was extradited back to Washington, DC.
Valle-Carranza was brought to the Homicide Branch by the MPD’s Fugitive Unit on February 6, 2024. He was accused of Second Degree Murder while Using a Weapon in connection with Garcia-Lopez’s passing.
A crucial stage in the case is Valle-Carranza’s arrest and subsequent charges. Since December 2023, the MPD’s Homicide Branch has been investigating leads. The MPD’s Homicide Branch is in charge of the continuing investigation. The department’s commitment to pursuing justice for victims of violent acts is demonstrated by the measures taken against Valle-Carranza.
