Jersey City Prosecutor Indicts Driver Involved in Fatal Wrong-Way Crash for Exceeding 100MPH

Mocobizscene- On October 16, 2023, Ziyang Wang, 23, was driving a BMW X5 M50i when it crashed into a Kia Amanti. The collision occurred after Wang came around a blind curve on the wrong side of Paterson Plank Road, just south of Congress Street, according to authorities.

The male and female backseat passengers who lost their lives were never identified by the authorities. Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez made an announcement on Friday, Feb. 2, stating that a grand jury in Jersey City had issued an indictment in the case on Jan. 11.

The prosecutor failed to provide an explanation for withholding that information from the public for almost a month. Wang is facing charges of aggravated manslaughter, reckless manslaughter, and death by auto, with three counts for each offense.

The passenger who suffered critical injuries has also filed charges against him, including aggravated assault and assault by auto. John Burke, an Assistant Prosecutor in Hudson County, successfully obtained the indictment.
