Suspect arrested for hit-and-run incident that caused severe injuries to pedestrian in New Jersey

Mocobizscene- A 45-year-old man has been arrested by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit in connection with a hit-and-run crash that caused serious injuries to a pedestrian.

Marvin Flores Ortiz has been charged with intentionally fleeing the scene of a car accident that caused severe physical harm and putting an injured individual at risk. On Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at around 11 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of a pedestrian who had been struck in the vicinity of Central Avenue and Ferry Street in Jersey City.

The victim with serious injuries was located by the responding officers, who happened to be a 71-year-old man. He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center by EMS for medical treatment. The vehicle that caused the accident fled the scene without stopping. Flores Ortiz was taken into custody at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and later released, with a court appearance set for Tuesday, February 13.
