Mocobizscene- The Los Angeles Police Department is currently investigating the deaths of three individuals in downtown Los Angeles. Among the victims are a prominent California musician and a well-known Los Angeles DJ. The incident is suspected to be a result of a fentanyl overdose.
Three individuals have been identified as the deceased in this tragic incident. The first is Jose “Luis” Vasquez, a 44-year-old known for his contributions to the post-punk project the Soft Moon. The second is John “Juan” Mendez, a 46-year-old DJ who was widely recognized under the name Silent Servant. Lastly, we have Simone Ling, a 43-year-old who was reportedly Mendez’s partner.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has categorized the cause of death as “deferred,” indicating that investigations are currently underway to determine the exact reasons. The LAPD Central Bureau homicide unit is actively engaged in the case, and it may take several months before conclusive findings are made public.
The community is deeply affected by these deaths, especially the fans and peers in the music industry. The Soft Moon’s Facebook page mourned Vasquez’s passing, describing it as a “huge loss” and expressing heartbreak.
According to LAPD Capt. Raul Jovel of the Central Division, drug-related deaths pose a significant concern. He emphasized the division’s frequent investigations into overdose deaths and the substantial quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl seized by officers last year.
