Local Woman’s Murder Investigated in Sixth District New Orleans

Mocobizscene- A killing that happened in the Sixth District on January 6, 2024 is being looked into by the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD). A woman was killed in a crime that happened in the 2700 block of Washington Avenue.

Officers from the NOPD Sixth District responded to a call regarding a shooting at the location around 6:13 p.m. The woman was found on the sidewalk, unresponsive and suffering from several gunshot wounds. At the scene, she was pronounced deceased.

Investigators are gathering evidence to identify the offender or perpetrators and determine a motivation. As of right now, no more information is accessible.

Following the autopsy, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased and verify the cause of death. As a result, the family will be informed. The NOPD urges anyone with information to anonymously contact Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans or get in touch with detectives in the NOPD Homicide Section.
