Mocobizscene-A 37-year-old man was detained on December 23 in relation to the death of a woman whose burnt remains were discovered in the car trunk of a Quartz Hill community in Lancaster, Los Angeles County.
Matthew Switalski was taken into custody in Kern County on Thursday night at approximately 6:30 p.m. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reports that he was booked on suspicion of murder.
Sheriff’s officials stated on Wednesday that the body was discovered about 8:30 a.m. after firefighters put out the fire in the garage of Mr. Switalski’s residence in the 41400 block of 38th Street West.
The woman’s body was discovered inside the garage-parked car’s trunk. We are not disclosing her age or name until her next of kin has been notified. Reporters were informed by neighbors that the woman worked as a teacher, and the perpetrator is thought to be her boyfriend.
The family identified the woman as 27-year-old Veronica Aguilar, an elementary school teacher and UCLA graduate. A GoFundMe campaign, GoFundMe. me/e834647b, has been established to assist with funeral costs.
Juan Aguilar, Veronica’s brother, commented, “My little sister Veronica was taken from us on December 20, 2023, her story is all over the news of her brutal death.” “We will never be the same again; we mourn her terribly. She had the sweetest disposition and was always grinning. My family is inconsolable. Veronica, my sister, had a great mind. She was a UCLA alumna, an elementary school teacher, and an all-around wonderful person. We can give my sister Veronica the fitting funeral she deserves with your assistance.”
As of late Saturday, the GoFundMe page had amassed almost $19,000 of the $20,000 target.
In the meantime, court documents state that Mr. Switalski was being held on a $10 million bail. He was previously detained in May for an unidentified felony, according to jail records.
