According to authorities, two juvenile victims in southern California and one adult were detained on Friday after they were allegedly attacked with a hammer and brass knuckles, causing them to suffer potentially fatal injuries.
At approximately 9 p.m., Thousand Oaks police were called to a residential neighborhood regarding reports of two individuals who had suffered head injuries. After being transported to a nearby hospital, the two boys, who are 14 and 16, are still in critical condition.
The three suspects, two 15-year-old boys and 20-year-old Lesly Ortiz, were found at a house about three miles from the scene of the incident after an inquiry into the attack.
After obtaining a search warrant, detectives were able to investigate the home, apprehend the three suspects, and confiscate several pieces of evidence, including the weapon. Investigators claim that there was a connection between the attack and street gang activity.
Ortiz was put into the Ventura County Main Jail on the same charges as the two teenagers, who were booked into the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center for attempted homicide and involvement in a criminal street gang. Tuesday was Ortiz’s court appearance.
