Mocobizscene– As a result of a vehicle that jumped the curb and collided with a crossing guard in Lakewood, California, the crossing guard suffered a partial loss of his leg. The 38-year-old Eduardo Villalpando was struck by a car on December 1st, only a few moments after he had been walking a group of children across the street.
A Dodge Challenger that looked to be speeding collided with a Honda Pilot SUV that was turning, leading the Challenger to crash with Villalpando. The video footage of the incident was collected from a nearby car wash. When the collision occurred, Villalpando was standing on the corner of Centralia and Pioneer Streets.
Villalpando was thrown into the air as a consequence of the accident, which resulted in the entire amputation of his left leg and the severe injury of his right leg.
“I could feel myself floating, flying, and not having any control over my body,” she said. While Villalpando was being treated at the hospital, he gave an interview to NBC4 in which he stated, “Then I woke up on the ground a second later.”
“Hit me, put me through the retainer wall of the car wash, and I flew about twenty feet, landing in between a car and a car wash vacuum,” Villalpando claimed. “I was put through the retainer wall.”
Employees at the SuperFine Auto Spa assisted in making certain that Villalpando was transported in an ambulance in a secure manner.
Maria Robles, who is married to Villalpando, credits them with saving her husband’s life.
According to Robles, who spoke with KTLA, “He saw him bleeding out and immediately got a belt and put that on like a tourniquet on his leg so that he could stop bleeding until the paramedics got there.” They may not consider themselves heroes, but we believe them heroes. There are a significant number of angels in heaven who are watching over him.
The accident resulted in Villalpando losing his left leg, and he informed the media that the doctors had assured him that he would be able to walk again with the use of a prosthetic leg.
” I had to have my left leg amputated. My right leg was able to be saved by the medical staff. Both the screws and the pins were installed,” he explained.
Even though he had sustained injuries, he expressed his gratitude, particularly for the knowledge that the children were safe.
Some of those children are in my son’s class, so I am familiar with a couple of them. “If it had to happen to somebody, I’m glad it happened to me,” he remarked, pointing out that the disaster occurred just a few moments after he had taken some children across the street.
The police have not yet made any arrests at this time. Investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have stated that they are looking into the collision to establish whether or not either motorist was speeding.
