Multiple inmates were injured in a stabbing incident at the Department of Corrections (DOC) Central Detention Facility on Sunday morning, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) stated that they were alerted to a stabbing incident in the 1900 block of D Street SE at approximately 10:20 a.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered two inmates who had sustained stab wounds. Fortunately, both individuals were conscious and able to breathe. The Director of D.C. DOC provided DC News Now with a statement, expressing the following:
On Sunday, December 10, 2023, multiple residents at the Department of Corrections (DOC) Central Detention Facility were involved in a stabbing incident, which was an inmate-on-inmate assault. The correctional officers promptly responded to the incident and provided immediate medical care to the injured residents on-site.
Additionally, three residents with non-life-threatening injuries were transported to local hospitals by FEMS for further medical treatment. The Metropolitan Police Department and the DOC Office of Investigative Affairs are currently investigating the incident.
