According to a recent poll, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo emerges as the frontrunner to succeed New York City Mayor Eric Adams in the event of his departure.
According to a recent poll conducted by Slingshot Strategies, if a nonpartisan special election were to take place in New York City, Governor Cuomo would secure 22% of the vote. Public Advocate Jumaane Williams would follow with 15%, while Kathryn Garcia would receive 12% of the votes.
“Undecided” emerged as the top choice among voters, garnering the largest percentage of support at 35%.
Adams’ job approval rating has dropped significantly to 28% due to the challenges his administration is facing in addressing issues such as increasing crime rates, budget constraints, and a surge of migrants.
In 1993, his reputation suffered a setback when he was accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit. This incident, along with an FBI investigation into possible illegal campaign contributions, tarnished his image.
Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who stepped down from his position amidst allegations of sexual misconduct, is said to be contemplating a potential entry into the race if Eric Adams vacates his office. Notably, Cuomo is currently facing a lawsuit for sexual assault brought against him by a former assistant.
