Dominant championship win seals perfect season for Pembroke football team

CICERO, N.Y. (mocobizscene) — The Pembroke Dragons scored an astonishing 107 points during the state semifinals, securing their spot in the championship game for the second consecutive year. The feat is truly remarkable and a testament to the team’s talent and hard work.

Pembroke put on an impressive display of defense on Friday afternoon, leading them to a victory over Moravia (IV) with a score of 36-0. This victory secured back-to-back NYSPHSAA 8-man regional championships for the team. It’s worth noting that the regional championship game is essentially the equivalent of New York’s 8-man state title game, despite its different name. The team’s defense proved to be the star of the game, showcasing their skill and dominance on the field.

Pembroke football caps off perfect season with dominant championship win

In the first half, the Dragons dominated the game with a four-touchdown lead, all thanks to senior Tyson Totten, who scored all five touchdowns.

In the win, Totten managed to accumulate an impressive 400 yards on 32 carries. His outstanding performance contributed to his overall season record of 4,235 rushing yards and 71 touchdowns. MaxPreps, a national high school website, reports that this achievement makes Totten the leading player in the country with respect to rushing yards and touchdowns this season.

Throughout the entire season, Pembroke (13-0) showcased their dominance in the 8-man competition. Even their closest game in Week One was a resounding 27-point victory, as they emerged victorious with a score of 55-28 against Red Jacket.

Nine high school seniors, including Totten, Sean Pustulka, Jeremy Gabbey, Jayden Mast, Sebastian Balduf, Dominic Boldt, Sam Burton, Ben Steinberg, and Gage Stancliff, have ended their football careers on a high note. They have won an impressive 25 out of their last 26 games, two consecutive sectional titles, and the first two 8-man regional championships in the history of New York state.
