MARION COUNTY, Tenn. — The Marion County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that they are investigating a video in which law enforcement punched and dragged a man out of a car during a traffic stop.
The video, which was posted on Facebook and sent to us by several viewers, shows law enforcement instructing a man to exit the passenger seat during a traffic stop before an officer hits him.
The video then shows officers dragging him out, pressing him to the ground and handcuffing him. Towards the end of the video, officers reveal that there is a weapon in the vehicle.
The woman behind the camera tells the officers that she forgot it was in her car. District Attorney Courtney Lynch has stated that her office is aware of the video and is currently investigating it.
According to her, Jasper Police made the stop and called in Marion County Deputies and THP for backup. Marion County Sheriff Bo Burnette has confirmed that the officers in the video are with Jasper and not his deputies.
