Police recover the body of a Dothan teen who threw a living child into a dumpster

DOTHAN, Ala. – A lady from Dothan, Alabama, has been charged with Capital Murder after she placed her child into a dumpster equipped with a trash crusher.

Investigators arrested Jakayla Ashanti Williams, 18, on Thursday after discovering the infant dead in a Dothan dump, despite the fact that the youngster was alive when it was discarded.

“She told her family that she had delivered a child in August and taken it to Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan,” Police Chief Will Benny said during a press conference Thursday night.

According to him, the family became suspicious of Williams’ narrative, and hospital security video proved she never took her infant boy to Southeast Health.

According to police, she acknowledged to abandoning her infant and telling investigators she did not want to be a mother.

“It shocks the mind; it shocks the soul,” Benny said.

He claimed that if Williams had brought the child to the hospital, Alabama law would have protected her and the infant would have been admitted without issue.

Houston County District Attorney Russ Goodman said he has not addressed the death penalty with his staff.

Williams is being held without bond.
