The Montgomery County Government has decided to move forward with the termination of its contract with North Rockville-based AdvaGenix after halting COVD-19 testing at several sites throughout the County.
The issue stems from a cease and desist directive and order issued by the Maryland Department of Health on August 14. That same day, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles announced they would pursue new COVID-19 testing options after suspending County-sponsored testing operations the previous day.
AdvaGenix was the largest supplier of COVID-19 testing and lab work for the County Government. Sites where testing was held included several in Silver Spring territories as well as in Germantown and Takoma Park.
The contractor was approximately eight percent of the over 265,000 COVID-19 tests haave been administered to County residents.
