According to reports more than 50 organizations around the world have made a serious effort to develop a COVID-19 vaccine. That number narrows significantly when looking at vaccines that have entered the last phases of development.
Today, three biopharma companies with operations in Montgomery County joined six others to sign what they called a historic pledge towards ethical standards, safety and integrity as they move closer to global approval of their COVID-19 vaccines.
AstraZeneca (LSE/STO/NYSE: AZN), GlaxoSmithKline plc (LSE/NYSE: GSK) and Novavax, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVAX) were joined by BioNTech (NASDAQ: BNTX), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ), Merck (NYSE: MRK), Moderna, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRNA), Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) and Sanofi (NASDAQ: SNY), in the pledge towards safe COVID-19 development.
Sources say part of the reason for the pledge is calm fears of the safety of the vaccine development that’s being developed at historic speed.
