The DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse located in the Downtown Silver Spring mixed-use project will be relocating but not too far away. The news was confirmed by an employee of the current location and reports from the property management group of the new location.
The new space will still be within the walkable area for customers to patronize and will remain part of the main shopping district in the urban downtown area.
DSW has decided to lease over 17,000 square feet at Ellsworth Place, the urban indoor mall directly across from what will soon be its former location. Ellsworth Place, owned by GBT Realty and managed by the Segall Group, signed DSW recently and will be filling a big vacancy on the fourth floor of the six-story indoor mall. The lease brings that level close to full occupancy. The new location for DSW was previously occupied by the Guitar Center which filed for bankruptcy and closed its Silver Spring store in early 2021.
The lease is the latest announcement from Ellsworth Place management related to large space occupancy. Back in July the Montgomery Business Scene was first to report that a foodhall would be taking over 13,000 square feet in the mall's third floor, a space that was previously occupied by Forever 21 red. That company filed for bankruptcy as well and closed F21 red locations nationwide.
