Authorities Identify Man Who Died After Alleged Fight on I-25

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has recently disclosed the identity of the man involved in the death investigation that caused the closure of northbound I-25 for a few hours on Wednesday, Oct. 11.

According to the Fountain Police Department (FPD), they received reports of a physical altercation between two individuals on the northbound side of I-25 near mile marker 133, which is situated just north of Mesa Ridge Parkway and south of the South Academy Boulevard exit. The incident was reported on Wednesday at 1:52 p.m.

Upon receiving the call, officers and paramedics immediately rushed to the location only to discover a man, later identified as Cecil Freeman, lying on the side of the interstate. Sadly, Freeman was unresponsive and not breathing. Despite all the life-saving efforts, the paramedics were unable to revive him, and he passed away on the spot.
