ADOC Correctional officer at Staton Prison arrested for alleged drug sales

According to court documents, a correctional officer working for the Alabama Department of Corrections in Elmore County has been arrested and charged with promoting prison contraband and using her official position for personal gain. The allegations against her are serious and concerning, and further investigation is ongoing. It is essential for correctional officers to maintain the integrity of their positions and follow all protocols to ensure the safety and security of inmates and staff. According to documents filed in court, Laneitria Shanaye Hasberry, a 29-year-old resident of Prattville, was caught bringing 170 grams of marijuana into the Staton Correctional Facility at 3 p.m. last Wednesday. It was reported that she was paid $1,000 in exchange for the drugs.

According to Kelly Betts, a spokeswoman for ADOC, during a routine search of incoming staff at the Staton Correctional Facility, correctional staff noticed a suspicious package being hidden by a certain individual named Hasberry. The staff member was detained and the package was confiscated and secured for further investigation.

According to the jail records, Hasberry was taken into custody and transported to the Elmore County Jail. She was able to post a bail of $15,000 and was consequently released the following day.

According to Betts, ADOC’s Law Enforcement Services Division has been informed about the incident and is currently conducting an investigation. It is important to note that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.

According to reports, Hasberry is no longer a part of the department’s workforce.
