Authorities are closely monitoring Prospect Park following the discovery of a deceased woman on Tuesday.
According to law enforcement officials, a woman’s body was discovered at around 11 a.m. with apparent head injuries. Officers were seen searching the surrounding wooded area of Prospect Park using flashlights, as the investigation continued. The area is known to have various homeless encampments, which further adds to the complexity of the case.
As per reports, the police were recently seen putting up Crime Stoppers flyers in the vicinity. A witness, who spoke to News 12, claimed that he heard commotion and cries for help overnight. He suspects that the victim might have been one of the homeless individuals who live in the area, which is situated quite close to a frequented path used by runners and cyclists.
The examiner in charge is currently investigating the reason behind the woman’s passing.
