Tragedy struck the community of West Toledo on Monday night when a 14-year-old boy lost his life in a shooting incident. The details surrounding the incident are still unclear, but the loss of a young life is a devastating blow to all those affected. According to an incident report, Calub Ellis was found with a gunshot wound by Toledo Police around 8 p.m. in the 1400 block of Sylvania Avenue near the West Toledo Branch Library.
According to the report, the adolescent was transported to ProMedica Toledo Hospital following the incident, but unfortunately, he passed away. This tragic incident marks the 27th homicide in the city of Toledo this year, with the total in the metropolitan area now at 28.
According to Toledo Public Schools spokesman Patty Mazur, a Start High School freshman named Ellis is currently in need of support. In response, counselors will be available on Tuesday for students and staff alike.
At present, the authorities have not made any arrests nor have they identified any suspects in connection with the shooting incident. The investigation is ongoing, and they are still looking into other circumstances that led to the tragic event.
