Montgomery County (MBS) – On September 9th, Police Sgt. Gregory Jordan, who had dedicated 30 years of his life to serving the county, passed away peacefully in his home. His contributions to the community will never be forgotten.
Jordan was serving in the 3rd District and was stationed in the White Oak locality when he passed away.
In 1992, Jordan became a member of the department and was initially assigned to the Major Crimes Division. He has been diligently serving as a sergeant since his promotion in 2013.
Montgomery Police Chief Marcus Jones expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Sgt. Jordan, stating that it is a huge loss not just for the department but for the entire Montgomery County community. He also urged everyone to keep the fallen officer’s family, friends, and colleagues in their thoughts during this difficult time.
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich expressed his condolences in a statement following the passing of Sergeant Gregory Jordan. Elrich acknowledged Sergeant Jordan’s service and dedication to serving and protecting the people of Montgomery County for thirty years. He described the late Sergeant as a true public servant and his loss as a great one.
“My heart goes out to his colleagues in the 3rd District and the Montgomery County Police Department, as well as his family. He will be remembered fondly and missed deeply.”
After the department released the news of Jordan’s passing, the community and local officials showed their support by reaching out on social media.
Jones stated that details regarding Jordan’s funeral arrangements will be announced soon. He further added that this is an opportunity for the whole department and community to come together and pay their respects and celebrate his life and legacy.
